Just thinking out aloud here and not meant as a dig (if it comes across like that to some members)
I like to dive, infact its become my number 1 hobby, taking over from my shooting (which I love). My question is, why do FFS not go out more? Again not a dig, I know people work weekends and have other commitments such as family but for beginners like myself and Gary, there are only so many times you can dive Capernwray or the Delph without wanting to dive somewhere new.
And the only way us beginners can dive new places is with experienced guys and girls like yourselves. I learnt so much following and watching John, Tom, Jim & Ged at the Delph when they had students. Also Paul from Wirral sports has been a huge help with advice and an excellent attitude to non pressure selling.
I have looked on the internet for other clubs who do diving trips as a club and come up with a few but would rather see FFS grow as personally I think it may have the members but not the desire. I say desire but must emphasize that I know people have families and work commitments and that diving isnt the bee all and end all of their lives, some people just pleasure dive abroad and I can see their point too as the water does get cold here in the UK. As in my title I must be obsessed.
Do the club have any plans to do sea dives, club outings or weekend trips?

A look at the dive trips and holidays section and you will see an open invitation to Portland 20th April - subject to the weather being kind (we tried four times last year, but winds and waves beat us each time !!
There is also the possibility of organising a day or weekend out which may attract some of the other less active members, but would suggest that they need to be local as no one seems to relish the thought of joining Bandit and myself on our trip to Portland.

Cheers Geoff, would love to come to Portland but lack of holidays puts paid to this midweek trip (hence my comment about work commitments)
I said I understand about work and family and there are a few FFS divers who do get out regulary, just think there could be more...
