We stood in that manly MSD pose looking out to sea as Scimitar skimmed across the flat surface, windless Deep blue skies ahead, Rob the Lob, Vet and Bandit (our Two heroes) smiled, the sun glinted off Bandit's teeth, Vet hands on hips said 'This is what its all about............'!!!! Kitted up and waiting for the shout of Captain Smudge, they were about to embark on a 30 metre drift on the Shambles, Suddenly a shout went up....@Jump@ In they went, once settled on the surface Bandit indicated to dive, down, down, down they went, green bloom made it look eerie, at 20 metres it cleared as if a light had gone on, magnificent....10 to 15 viz, 11 degrees, SMB deployed once Vet had decided how he was going to blow it up, Bandit very patient tapping his fin and arms folded looking on.
Off they went drifting with the current, amzing, millions of mussels every where. A huge Pie crab stood on gaurd, Vet Gestured to Bandit, Bandit Gestured to Vet, where is the goody bag, what fun our two heroes were having, new unused hand signals being made under water. The crab was left, not for the pot this time.
On the MSD's went, searching here and there when suddenly, Vet grabbed Bandit and pointed, fighting against the current they went back and there it was................ A monster of the ocean, easily two feet across, a Plaice....... quick as a flash Bandit struck, a huge fight ensued at 30 metres, hand to hand deadly combat, Vet could only look on in admiration as Bandit struggled to bring this monster to heel. Minutes ticked by, Bandit thought it was minutes, until the Plaice conceded to the stronger warrior.
All too soon the drift dive came to an end, 17 minutes deco and the Scimitar swooped in to pick our heroes up, once on board all the divers were amazed at the size of this monster from the deep, Vet and Bandit slapped each other on the back a good dive followed by a good feed.
As the sun set the boat made its weary way back to Portland, the other divers could only look on in awe as they stepped from the boat with their catch, The MSD/s were back...............!!!!
Six dives our Heroes had and they are another story my friends.........
