Portland, July 2009, Bandit is BACK

I stood on the deck of Scimitar, gazing out to sea, as the hull of the boat skippied over the waves.
In the distance, a point too far to see was a bouy, under that bouy the Van Opstel at 30 meters, a wreck torpedoed by those pesky Germans in the second worl war.
All too soon Rob and I kitted up, did our checks and in we went with a splash.
Tide running a bit we descended on the line, 17 degrees no hood or gloves viz not brilliant but a nice 5 to 6 mtrs.
A huge wreck broken at the stern but complete from halfway to the prow, what fun we had looking for Lobsters, crabs and the like.
I turned and a huge Lobster was staring at me, I made a grab and it was off, wagging its tail laughing in the face of this diver, Rob the Lob also saw it but to no avail, the Lobster will have to wait for our return in the future to grace our cooking pot.
Plenty of fish, Cod, Coal fish, Sea Bass abounded this huge wreck.
As the dive ended the SMB's went up, we ascended slowly enjoying the feeling of weightlessness, on the surface the weather had changed, black clouds and the wind had risen too, not good, but as ever, the skipper was true, picking us up on the lift, chocolate and bickys were dished out, what a laugh on the way back we had, 37 minute dive, max depth 29.9 on air.

I will be returning again...................soon.
