The club is planning a diving holiday to Scotland in April next year. Dates are Friday 23rd to Monday 26th and we will be staying in self catering lodges at Dunoon which is West of Glasgow on the north side of the Clyde. Each lodge accommodates six people with 3 bedrooms (one double, one twin, one bunk), fitted kitchen, dining area, lounge, bathroom with shower and veranda, Electricity is metered and each lodge will be responsible for their own bills which must be settled on vacating (in the past this has been less than £5 per lodge).
The plan is to do one dive at Loch Striven on Friday afternoon, two dives in Loch Fyne on Saturday and two dives in Loch Long on Sunday. All divers need to be qualified open water diver or above and have a complete set of kit including DSMB, weights and TWO cylinders (due to availability of air fills). If you need kit contact John Collins who has club kit for hire.
To reach Dunoon by the shortest route you will need ferry tickets and we will provide six crossings per Lodge so if you car share then that will get you there and back at no extra cost. A meal will be provided on Friday evening (please let us know of special dietary requirements such as vegetarian, coeliac, etc) at the Lodges as will tea, coffee, sugar and milk. We will provide sandwich lunches on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday evening it is planned to have a BBQ for which the facilities will be provided and individuals can either bring their own food to cook or it could be done on a whip round basis at approximately £5 per head. This can be decided closer to the time. In the past we have gone to the Indian restaurant in Dunoon on Sunday night and paid for our own meals as some prefer to go home due to work etc. on Monday.
The cost will be £85 per head for the weekend. Included in this as already mentioned are
- ferry crossings - accommodation Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights - tea and coffee, etc., - evening meal on Friday - packed lunches /hot drinks on Saturday and Sunday.
Not included are - air fills (we will arrange these and they are to be paid for as required) - electricity - breakfast - Saturday and Sunday evening meals - kit hire.
There will be several experienced divers on hand with knowledge of diving these sites should those who have not been before need advice.
In order to make this possible we need to fill a lodge at a time. We would need a £50 deposit to book and secure the lodges. To help us ensure that this is viable, we would be grateful for a show of interest through this forum; hopefully your postings will generate more positive responses. Don't forget to let us know of any dietary requirements.
If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask.
Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.
KT and Leaky

I will add your names to the list. We do not need deposits yet, numbers need to be secured before this becomes viable. Deposits will be collected by myself or Katie Current (Nick & Gill).
And todays count is looking good. Just waiting for Kate to confirm and we 're up to 16 people. Depending on the size of the lodges we get, we can take between 2-5 more. Places now looking limited. Be quick!!

We've now got 19 names for the Scotland Trip next year. In order to get this absolutey confirmed so that we can book the lodges (and you can all book the necessary leave with work, the wife, etc,) we are going to start collecting deposits of £50 at the October Club nights or dive shop on a Saturday morning (October). The balance will be due in February 2010.
On payment of the deposit, we shall ask you to complete a simple form to include name, contact details and whether you have any dietary requirements that we need to take into consideration.
Closer to the time, we shall post updates, information and any personal messages on the forum.
If there are any more people who are interested in going but as yet haven't put theri names down or can't commit until nearer the time, we can make a list of reserves and possibly look into booking a mobile home or other accommodation that might be available at short notice at Hunters Quay.
Any questions regarding the trip do feel free to ask wheither by a thread on the forum or by private message.
