On 1st April I underwent heart surgery at the Liverpool Heart and ChestHospital which possibly saved my life and certainly avoided a very imminent heart attack or stroke. I had a condition that was completely missed by a number of doctors but thanks to the skill of the staff at the Heart and ChestHospital, it was spotted and treated and Im now making an excellent recovery. I cant dive as a result of this until October but I can get out on my bike and do a bit.. As a thank you to the hospital, Im doing the Liverpool ChesterLiverpool bike ride on 18th July. Its 54 miles; Ive done it nine times before but never when Ive been recovering from a heart procedure!
As a thank you to the hospital (and to prove to myself that I can still do it, Im trying to raise as much sponsorship as I can for what is a real world class facility on our doorstep. If anyone wants to sponsor me, it would be very much appreciated, the amount is irrelevant. Any donations can be handed in to at the shop, in a sealed envelope, for my attention, or given to Geoff Achilles who will doubtless get around to passing them on to me at some point!
