Scuba diver killed by lightning in Florida
DEERFIELD, Fla., July 23 (UPI) -- A scuba diver near Deerfield Beach, Fla., was killed in what investigators said appears to be a lightning strike on the diver's air tank.
Stephen Wilson, 36, of Deerfield Beach, was pulled from the water after being struck by lighting about 30-feet away from the boat he was returning to, Miami's WPLG-TV reported Monday.
"We saw the paramedics arrive. There were about three trucks and they were trying to resuscitate the man," Christopher Virtue, who witnessed the accident, told the television station.
Wilson taken to the North Broward Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner at the hospital will release a statement revealing whether Wilson died from drowning or electrocution, WPLG-TV said.
