Capernwray 25/5/08

Great day's diving and the usual dodgy navigating! must have seen everything in Capernwray except the new boat (which is what we were looking for!). Kirk had a Semi (wonder who he was thinking about!), brave lad as it was only 14 degrees!

On first dive we all decended near to Gypsy Moth and then went if 3 different directions, top navigating!

Much fun had on second dive turning me into the human DPV (without my knowledge) wondered why I was finning so hard and getting nowhere, thanks Kirk and Ged.

5 divers on back of Shegar with me hanging onto the tail, all posing for a photo which didn't work!

Very difficult to drag Triggsy past the 6m platform, kept wanting to demonstrate his skills, demonstrated fin grabbing to me, obviously well practiced!

No doubt bandit will write one of his epics, as he spent much of his surface time standing in manly poses with chin thrust out trying to attract the girls, unsuccesfully, obviously!!biggrin

Great day thanks lads!

RE: Capernwray 25/5/08 - The First MSD Spring Splash About

Well, thought we may as well show the DM's how to go deep (even with a semi on !!!), it was a struggle, but I think once Ged and Kirk got past the 6m mark and into deep water, they soon calmed down and had a long relaxed dive.

It was a struggle though, I have the cuts and bruises to prove (OK, so I dropped a weight on my foot and cut my thumb on my key - rushing to get the fins that I had forgotten out of the boot!) - but it's the principle.

Scubasteve displayed his remarkable nav skills and found exactly what he was looking for - the far wall (hat's off the the JM school of Navigation) and Del gave everone a good tug (who needs a DPV).

So, we now have the post Christmas "Go Deep" and flush the sustem dive at Stoney (Well some of do at any rate) and the start of a regular MSD invitational for some relaxing fun and frolics (there's that semi again ) before attempting Portland once again.

Many thank's to ech of my dive companions for making it a really good day out !!

RE: Capernwray 25/5/08

The six men stood on the high plaines of the car park knowing something special was about to happen, it did, Scuba Steve WAS going to dive!!!!!!!!
He struggled at first to kit up until Bandit with a slap of his thigh and a little laugh manfully strode over and pointed to where the cylinder should go on his BCD.
With all that going on Vet, after seriously injuring his big toe and nearly decapitating his thumb, being a tough rufty still managed to kit up and dive twice that day, gritting his teeth to make sure the sun glinted off them slapped Bandit manfully on his back and said zip me up, which Del did.

This Invitational MSD Spring Splash was going down a treat. Ged and Kirk led the way forgetting this was for fun, they had to be dragged away from the platforms, once that was done kirk with a semi on found it much easier to go below 10metres, of course the other divers kept an eye on them to make sure they were not suffering from narcosis at 17 metres.
Navigation by Steve was spot on after all this time, he found the back wall without a problem.

Second dive we all stayed shallow, again we had trouble getting past the platforms, Ged kept doing fin pivots and Kirk very strange hand signals.
Eventually we made it to the horse and we all played (I mean) manfully got onto the back of the horse and manfully posed for kirks camera, which did'nt work.
Obviously ran out of battery power from taking too many pictures in Egypt!!!??.
All at once we manfully larked around, pulling each other around, doing upside down things , pointing here and there, even Del and scuba steve relaxed enough to join in, and guess what........................so did Ged and Kirk.

The MSD joviality that is famous world wide was beginning to rub off on our four guests.
After the dive and de-kit there was a lot of laughter and kidding around, Vet and Bandit stood in that manly way that is well known, feet apart buttocks clenched, Del and Scuba Steve will soon join the very small but very elite ranks of the MSD's.  After seeing what is on offer every time they dive with Bandit and Vet.
We are sure Kirk and Ged will one day like to join, but alas, they turned to the dark side.........but for now, invitation only my friends.wink

Another excellent day finished, Portland is on the next agenda.

Stay wet.......

Bandit (MSD) aww

O.K. I admit it, it was a good day with lots of laughs. I just want to make it clear, that, unlike Bandit and Vet, I did not let anybody clench my buttocks.biggrin
