Divemaster, is it worth doing?

Hi all, long time since I last posted but Dubai has been great the last 12 months (yes I've been out here for a year now)

I have in that year logged probably 60-70 more dives and completed Deep, EAN, Wreck, Search & Recovery, Rescue and EFR courses and I'm wondering if its worth doing my DMT?
MSD has a nice ring to it and I think I join the "elite" smile.gif group but I have been advised to do the DM and AI courses as "the 2nd best dive club" i am a member of have advised me to do it as they think "I've got what it takes"

elite ? blankstare Is that what it says on the badge ?

I think you have got what it takes, would you be doing it in the nice walm sun with the clear water, or do you think you will do it over there ? biggrin

You could get your self a part time job in the sun, get some colour invisible.gif

See you soon

Only saying the elite as thats what Bandit and Geoff call it... lol

I think with work and extended contract I will be doing it here in Dubai.  Excellent conditions to learn as well, anything from 1m viz to 15-20m, currents and slack water, its got everything.

may be back in UK to start the AI course though so I'll have to see Tommy for that.

Its getting too hot topside here, temps hitting 50 degrees so I need to spend as much time in the water as possible...

Mmm, MSD me thinks that we had the conversation on the forum before about what that stands for!!!!  wink

Take if from me, the DM course is well worth the effort and hard work that you will put in and even more so the pleasure that you will get out of it. There is nothing quite like working with a student that feels that they haven't got the confidence or experience and then watching their progress with your help and support.  And then one day they come and personally thank YOU for getting them there.  That feels good.  Yes, there may be a bit of hanging around the 6 metre platform  (this will be the retort from the MSDs!!) but as a DM you pitch in on all courses that are going on, which can be great fun.

Glad I did my DM, absolutely.  clap.gif

Nick and I are starting our IDC in August and shall hopefully join Tommy as qualified instructors for Wirral Sports

See you in August!!

KT is quite right.....very fulfilling watching as the students thank you for hanging around the 6m platform (occasionaly the 10m platform !) and turn to wave goodbye as they leave you to enjoy their diving.

I am sure you will get a lot of dives in on your holiday trips each month though, otherwise, MSD is the route to go !!!!

Well just to bring you up to date on the Dubai diving...

I passed the DM course but not after completing the MSD smile.gif

So it doesn't matter what circles I swim in (excuse the pun) I'm covered.

MSD for Geoff and Phil or DM for the PRO side biggrin.gif

Regards to all.
