Geoff and I went for a splash to the Delph on Sunday the 19th June, as usual we parked up and wondered down to pay our dues, we walked in had our cards swiped and were asked for our £10 fee, nothing amiss there you all think...........................!!!!!!!
The new bod behind the till then stated our membership had lapsed and we would need to pay a new joining fee which would last around 2 years, Geoff and I advised till bod that we had life membership, till bod said take it up with John the owner, we did......................!!!
Geoff and I confronted John who said the membership cards he had given us 4 or 5 years ago were NOT for life, Geoff advised he had said otherwise, John then arrogantly stated, no fee no dive, we then asked for our monies back and left.
Again John the owner of the Delph has moved the goalposts and is thinking of more ways to fleece the diving fraternity for a muddy pool, Geoff and I were annoyed at his arrogance and would not even consider being flexible, considering we have dived there since the begining, nearly 9 years.
Of course its a personal choice if you want to carry on diving there, but after his inflexibility and arrogance, oh yes and his brand new BMW, Geoff and I are taking our money elsewhere from now on.
Funny you should put this posting on as we had exactly the same conversation with them about 3 weeks ago. Again we stood by our Lifetime membership but John was adament. As we had students with us at the time, we were held to ransom really.
However, we decide before this incident that we would be doing the majority of our diving at Capernwray.

Thats where Geoff and I will be going from now on, its a sad state of affairs when people have to go elswhere because of peoples greed.
With oil, petrol and insurance's rising you would like to think that people would try and keep their prices low to attract new and keep old customers, instead of putting them up, lets hope he pays the ultimate price and goes under..............pardon the pun and new management take's over and does a proper job.
