Pre Pre Xmas Dive

There we were Geoff and I, hands on hips in the now traditionally well known stance of the hardened Rufty Tufty diver, surveying Stoney in all her glory.

Sun smiling down on us, wind whipping around our tussled locks.  Yes this is the life, Thursday, car park and quarry virtually to ourselves.  We set about kitting up ready for the first dive.  In we went off the bus stop, off to the right, went down to 25 mtrs and there it was, the drop off, we looked at each other smiles across our faces, down went the thumbs and down we went.

Water 11 degrees, viz a good 10 mtrs.  We bimbled along slowly stopping here and there to look at the vast expanse of shells and dead crayfish when suddenl................y at 34.1 mtrs there it was, another drop off.  It was black down there, darker than dark, we glanced at each other and left.  We carried on around the quarry, spotting roach, rudd, perch and a bloody big Pike cruised passed us.

On the surface we discussed the black hole and assumed there must be more water in the quarry after the rain. After chips and a cuppa, in we went again, paddled over to the bouy and down we went onto the Stangarth, in we went down and around looking at the frightened perch (fish with stripes), Geoff had that ability with the fish.  Followed the anchor line to Nautilus and we just cruised around in and out of buildings until Geoff found his thumb and pointed up.

All in all two brilliant dives which felt as if there was no-one else around, well there was'nt just us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So to who-ever is going on the28th December, Geoff and I have checked it out and we find that it is ok to dive there if you really want to...................

Water temp 29 degrees, vis 30m +, lying on the top of the boat catching some rays......

oh no, not Stoney I am afraid. I had to do my pre xmas dive of the island of Koh Chang in Thailand. Really nice dive sites and quite unspoiled so far with not many divers around it....

Jealous yet???

Sounds good Sap except for catching the rays. I remember telling you when we did our open water at Anglsey not to touch the sea life

You must have been narked, how the hell could you have "looked at each other smiles across our faces" with a regulator in your mouth or have you both developed gills?

Anyway glad you enjoyed it!
